Cherniak Jumps the Shark

Jason Cherniak is now, officially, a walking, talking joke. He is the personification of everything that is still wrong with the Liberal Party. That such an unethical, unscrupulous, Machiavellian apparachik is so closely connected to Stephane Dion and the Liberal caucus, tells you than nothing has changed since the sponsorship scandal except where they sit in the Commons.

Would you hire a lawyer who would so wantonly and easily say anything and make any accusation, no matter how unfounded? I know I wouldn't.

Can I belong to a Blog Roll that has Cherniak as a member? I'm beginning to wonder. How "progressive" is this kind of blog roll now?

Well considering there are a million anti-Cherniak posts today, which generally get scores of votes, I'd say ProgBlogs is just fine thanks, if not somewhat obsessed :)

Actually, 2 moderators have gone at him. 1 more subtly then the other.

Very well put. Now how can we get this said by somebody sufficiently famous for Cherniak to list it among the testimonials on his own site?

"Balance" in reporting has never been a virtue of Jason. Why would his list of testimonials be any different?

I started out offended at Jason's smear against Olivia, but what bothers me more now is the sexist, racist, elitist point he was heading towards in that first post and which he reaffirmed in the second.

But who cares about Jason? Bill C-31 is in the Senate. That's where we should direct our energies now.

Yeah, that's a pretty back handed apology. Sorry he got yelled at, not that he did anything wrong...my kids do that kind of apologizing all the time.

Whatever, you can't "un-jump" the shark

Although I often beat up Jason on his own blog, for idiotic posts that he makes (including the infamous "rumours" post), I must admit three things:

1. He's never deleted, modified or refused to publish any of my posts at his blog. In comparison to some other bloggers, that gives Jason a hundred points to start off, in my books.

2. His heart's in the right place; over-zealous, perhaps, but committed to be sure. Some people call this "blind to reality". Whatever.

3. He's trying to do a Stephen Taylor and provide a community for bloggers of a particular political persuasion. The problem is that Jason's ego (I once thought it was youthful exhuberance) puts his efforts, his work, his posts, etc., over the top. Thus your Jump the Shark post. In comparison, if Taylor has an ego, it sure is hidden away in some safety deposit box.

That said, I'm also convinced that Jason's dumb as a bag of hammers, as someone else put it. And, as you are suggesting, an embarassment to the Liberal brand.

Can he clean up his act? I think he's trying now, particularly after the Rumours episode. But it's easy for a person of his emotional makeup to slip, so my prognosis wouldn't be great. Anyway, my two cents worth.

I have no idea what this is referring to specifically?

For the record, while Jason can sometimes be too partisan, he's nevertheless a brilliant blogger and political organizer whom the Libs are lucky to have, IMHO.
